Smell Is A Powerful Tool
I created Dime Designer Studio in front of my TV in college, when I realized the craft hearts I made to help soothe my anxiety could be scented and carried around as sachets. I already found the tactile sensation of felt to be calming, so I set out to design an essential oils blend that would only double that effect. Through trial and error, I discovered that eucalyptus, peppermint, lavender, and tea tree oils were absolutely essential. There is science behind this. Lavender and tea tree plants have been used for centuries for their calming effects, while peppermint and eucalyptus are known for their cooling menthol and eucalyptol contents. Why is that important? The menthol effect not only creates the sensation of being able to breathe easier, but it can also mimic the sensation of splashing cold water on your face - a tactic proven to induce a physiological response known as the dive reflex! While menthol alone cannot reliably trigger this reflex, it can mimic the feeling for those of us that like the sensation.
